Your First Order of Viagra, Levitra, or Cialis

For first time use, we usually recommend the following doses:

  • Viagra 50mg
  • Cialis 10mg
  • Levitra 10mg

The actual medication that suits each individual does vary and some men order a small quantity of all three medications to decide which one works best.

You should always start with a low initial dose, if after you have tried it 4 times, you feel that a stronger dose will work better, then you should try the next strength up. However, this must only be done if you are not experiencing any side-effects as these will only be exacerbated with a stronger dose.

All three options for erectile dysfunction will only work if there is some sexual stimulation. Therefore, some preparation is required and you must plan the time you take the medication accordingly.

Alternative Options

Not everyone wants to take medication for erectile dysfunction and you may wish to try other options first. Alternatively, for whatever reason medication may not be an option for you. For example, you may find that the side-effects are difficult to deal with and you may want to know what other help is available. For most, Viagra, Cialis and Levitra work very well and sexual activity is normal and pleasurable however, the other options may involve speaking to a sex therapist or seeking cognitive behavioural therapy.

Causes of Erectile Dysfunction

It is important to address the root cause of your erectile dysfunction and there are a number of basic tests that you can have to get to the bottom of the problem.

Firstly, if you suffer from high blood pressure, the arteries that carry blood to the penis do not dilate properly. Further, high blood pressure prevents muscle in the penis from relaxing. This means that there is an inadequate blood flow into the penis to make an erection.

Other tests check for testosterone levels. If you have low levels of testosterone then this may be the root cause of your problem. Testosterone plays an important role in sexual arousal.

Finally, it is also important to test for diabetes and cholesterol levels. It is common for men who are diabetic to have erectile dysfunction and often diabetes is diagnosed when erectile dysfunction has been reported.

Your GP can do some simple tests to see if you have high blood pressure, low levels of testosterone, if you suffer from diabetes or if you have high levels of cholesterol.

Other factors to consider include whether you are a smoker or if you are overweight and both these can be controlled without any medical intervention.
